I have spoken to our soloist in the Strauss  - Janice Watson asking if she'd object to a video recording being taken during the concert and she responded most enthusiastically as is transpires there are no recordings of her singing the Four Last Songs in existence.  Further to that she asked if it was possible to do a decent audio recording as well.  Unfortunately though, there will be no student recording Saturday's concert like we have had for the last two concerts.  The Committee and I have been trying to find how this can be achieved in such a short space of time but we've not yet hit upon a suitable solution. 
 
What we are looking for is someone who has reasonably modern (stereo at least) digital recording equipment including recording-standard microphones.  If any of you have any such friends/contacts who would be prepared to let their equipment be used (or they can have a free ticket to come and operate it), we will be willing to pay for this service - within reason.
 
It would be quite a coup to be in possession of the only recording of Janice Watson singing the Four Last Songs (with The Bromley Symphony Orchestra conducted by Adrian Brown!) and Janice would be most grateful.  It says something about what she experienced last Monday that she feels we were good enough to be on her only recording of her singing this wonderful music.
